ALL MY SONS: TEACHING PACK

This is our second round of creating teaching slides and schemes of learning for the Cambridge A-level plays and we've learned from the last set. Our aims in terms of making them even better this time were to:
Make the teaching a little faster-paced, as the course is packed if you do AS-Level separately, and we need to move fast. 
Hone in on the writing early on, making some of the ‘journal’ and ‘portfolio’ work a little more structured, building on what we do at IGCSE, which has meant creating workbooks and regular, specific homework tasks that allow students to have focused writing practice throughout their study. 
Try to get students to incorporate SCG (Style / Context / Genre) into all written responses from early on. This is a real challenge in the exam, so we are working on drilling it from the start. 
 
As always, we ask ourselves, what would we want to magically appear on our desktop if embarking on teaching the play for the first time as busy teachers? So we have tried to create that. Beautifully designed slides with a practical and inspirational approach to teaching the plays that opens doors for creative interpretation and inspires students to think and create and take ownership of their work, before very carefully modelling best practice for answering exams. We don’t spoon feed. We don’t give all the answers, but we do point everyone in the right direction, show what good practice looks like, and give plenty of support and guidance, hopefully saving busy teachers hours and hours of prep work and supporting those newer to the exam board, the plays, or teaching drama in a way that makes you feel you can succeed.
